We gather for worship on Sunday mornings from 10:30-11:30 am. We also host a community coffee time at 9:00 am, immediately followed by Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:30 am.
What are your services like?
We describe our services as reverent but joyful, rooted but enduring, simple but not simplistic, and above all, focused upon the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Bible tells us all we need to know about God, including how he is to be worshipped. At Forreston Grove, we sing the truths of Scripture through hymns and modern songs, we hear the Bible through Scripture readings and the sermon, and we see the Bible through the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Our worship services usually last about an hour and include singing several songs (both classic and new), silent and public prayers, reading passages of the Bible, and hearing a 25-30 minute sermon. In the sermon, our pastor explains the meaning of a particular Bible passage and connects its message to our day-to-day lives. The goal of the entire service is to glorify God and remind ourselves of the life-changing power of the gospel.
What about my children?
We love kids at Forreston Grove! Your children are always welcome to stay and worship with you in the service. Additionally, we have a cry room with an audio feed of the service available for nursing mothers and parents of small children.
We have a fully-staffed nursery available for children ages three and under for both the Sunday School hour and the worship service. When you enter the front doors of the church one of our greeters will be happy to help you find the nursery and/or the right Sunday School class for your child.
What should I wear?
We have no dress code at Forreston Grove and you will see a wide range of clothing: for men, anything from suits to jeans; for ladies, anything from jeans to dresses. We believe that our hearts are what we bring to the Lord in worship, not our outward appearance (see 1 Samuel 16:7). So please bring a full heart and whatever you are most comfortable wearing.
Will I be expected to give money during the service?
Absolutely not! We do provide an opportunity for our members to give as a part of their worship, but we do not ask (or expect) our visitors to contribute. We are simply glad you are here and considering what Jesus has to say.
I have a few more questions. How can I get more information?
